WebLogic Server 9.0 sets a new performance record at SPECjAppServer2004
BEA has announced that BEA WebLogic Server(R) 9.0 has set a new performance record,
surpassing all previous SPECjAppServer2004 benchmark results. This independently
designed and validated industry-standard benchmark is specifically designed to
measure the scalability and performance of Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE)
technology-based application servers.
Working with Intel and HP, the latest
benchmark results prove once again that BEA is committed to providing its
customers with the highest possible performance at the lowest
total-cost-of-ownership (TCO).
“This new record proves beyond a doubt that WebLogic Server offers
J2EE-enabled enterprises the best price/performance ratio in the industry,” said
Ed Whelan, director, engineering, BEA Systems. “Our award-winning J2EE platform
technology not only helps gives IT organizations greater value in less time, but
is designed to do so at reduced cost to the overall business.”
Using WebLogic Server 9.0 and JRockit 5.0 on five HP ProLiant DL380 G4
two-way 64-bit Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processor application server systems and a
12-way HP Integrity Intel(R) Itanium 2 processor database server, BEA achieved a
record 1,374.11 jAppServer Operations Per Second (JOPS) and did it using only
half of the application server’s CPUs and memory required for the previous
record.
“BEA and Intel continue to work closely together to advance scalable and
reliable application infrastructure platform that takes advantage of the latest
technology built into Intel processors,” said Jason Waxman, director of
enterprise platforms marketing, Intel Corporation. “The performance record made
public today demonstrates the performance advantage J2EE enterprises can achieve
using BEA WebLogic Server 9.0 and Intel(R) Xeon processor-based HP ProLiant
servers.”
“The HP ProLiant DL380 G4 system used in the benchmark is the world’s best
selling server, employing Intel Xeon processors and built for performance,
versatility, ease of management and reliability,” said Colin Lacey, director of
platform marketing, Industry Standard Servers, HP. “When used in conjunction
with BEA WebLogic Server the HP DL380 G4 provides J2EE-enabled enterprises with
a fully scalable solution that delivers superior performance for
mission-critical environments.”
BEA has consistently achieved top performance and price/performance results
across a wide variety of hardware, operating systems and databases.
BEA WebLogic Server 9.0’s enterprise-grade kernel is designed with zero
downtime features, support for multi-programming models, and an ideal foundation
for building a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). In addition to being J2EE
1.4 compliant, BEA WebLogic Server 9.0 now includes a new extensible portal
administration console, Enterprise Web services, enhanced performance messaging
and superior reliability.
